This week: Sesame Street Cupcakes

I’m considering attempting these for my nephew’s birthday party this Friday. I have to admit that I’m more than a little intimidated.  Has anyone ever made these or have tips?

cute! i’ve seen elmos and cookie monsters made with just icing but i love the way the colored coconut looks too. and it’s probably easier for little hands and mouths to manage 🙂

Love it love it love it! For the eyeballs you could maybe try marshmallows and the bottom of a hershey kiss.

Never done it, but coating the frosting in sprinkles/coconut/whatever you want is pretty easy. Just spread your frosting and round the top, and dip the top in a bowl of your chosen decoration.

I would definitely cut the slit for the mouth AFTER you frost and sprinkle. Let the frosting set (maybe put it in the fridge for a bit?) then carefully slice into the frosting.

Or you could cheat and use half a cookie and just press it into the frosting where the mouth would be.
