Cookie Monster Cupcakes, my version

Okay, so they aren’t nearly as cute as these or these….but personally I think they turned out alright (although the eyes on this guy are a little funny).  They weren’t as hard as I thought they would be.

Somewhat Eco-Friendly, but definitely green

I had time this weekend to download pictures from a few little parties, and I’ll be sharing them through out this week.  Here are some pictures from my best friend’s thirtieth birthday.  Her “real” party was at a swanky lounge in L.A, but we had a laid back mid-week get together for the fam.

I love paper banners–they’re so easy and inexpensive, but also sooo fun.  I felt like Martha Stewart while I was making this one.

I made Funfetti cupcakes for the kiddies and these yummy Oreo cupcakes for everyone else.

 

The party was somewhat eco-friendly, with the use of sustainable materials like bamboo plates (per my bff’s request). We also saved all the paper goodies , like the banner and cupcake toppers, to re-use for future parties….so don’t be surprised if you see them again soon.

Real Parties: Yellow Baby Shower

I found this precious little baby shower over at A Thoughtful Day.  Lucky her, her friends Emily and Jenna put in lots of effort to pull off this sweet little party with lots of fun details. 

These cupcakes turned out great.  I’ve been wanting to try these, from the Feb. 09 issue of MS Living, here.

My Valentines cupcakes went so fast, I didn’t get a chance to take a picture.  Now all that’s left is this one lonely little cupcake on my desk. Yes, those are the little felt hearts from Purl Bee, but I didn’t have pinking shears so they’re not quite as snazzy.

Red Velvet Cupcakes

I’ve been on a red velvet kick ever since I had the most delicious, moist, divine slice of cake ever at a graduation party last month.  Trying to bake the easy way, I tried this Red Velvet Cake from the Cake Mix Doctor.  It was sufficient, but disappointing.  Then I remembered an episode of Throwdown (with Bobby Flay) where his opponent made these yummy looking red velvet cupcakes topped with a whole ice-cream scoopful of cream cheese icing.  Even though I couldn’t remember who won the Throwdown, I decided that this would be a good place to start.  Overall the cupcakes were very yummy and I really liked the icing, although there were a couple of comments that it may have been too sweet.  And even though I really liked these cupcakes, they still weren’t my favorite (a la Johnny Depp in Chocolat).  Anyway, today I’m going to try this recipe for our 3rd of July celebration.  Festive, no?

Oh my cupcake!

These would be perfect for my cupcake & cocktails party….if they weren’t 60 bucks each. Let’s see, $60 per cupcake stand x 8 guests = @!%#$&!!!! Uh, sorry. These just don’t fit into my casual Sunday afternoon get-together budget. But, how cute would these be at each place setting?
