Real Parties: Willy Wonka Birthday
This Willy Wonka party was more “production” than “party”. Read on for all the little details.
The Food Table
Wheat grass centerpieces with lollipops from Oriental Trading Co.
The “Candy Store”
Activities:
Parents and kids arrived and waited in the driveway, which was set up with a popcorn machine and carnival music until “Willy Wonka” came and led them to the backyard, where they had to sign a contract before entering the party. More creative activities included: 1. Fizzy Lifting Burping Contest with mini Mountain Dews 2. Bubble gum blowing contest a la Violet 3. Lickable wallpaper (melted jolly ranchers) and 4. a Golden Egg Hunt where each golden egg had a note inside saying whether it was a Good Egg or Bad Egg. After each game the kids got to go to the candy store and choose their prizes, everyone got at least one candy/snack per game.
Food:
Mainly sandwiches with cheesy names like “Mike BLTeevee”, “Golden Egg Salad Sandwiches”, “Veruca Salt & Cucumber Sandwiches” and “Charlie’s Bucket O’ Tuna”.

Nice theme! I know what you mean about those kind of parties being more production than party, but man does it make for great pictures.
I really liked the imaginative activities to go with is. Out of curiosity, what age was it for?

This was for a 1 yr old birthday party. It was a little age in-appropriate, since he couldn’t even eat the candy
